Obituary of Jim Wilcoxson

James "Jim" Eugene Wilcoxson, 74, of Lexington, passed away April 29, 2024. Born in Colin, Texas, he was the son of the late Elmer Eugene Wilcoxson and Mary Jo Wardlow Wilcoxson. Jim grew up in Garland, Texas, and attended Garland High School, where he played football. His two best friends from that time in Texas are Larry Wisdom and Albert Trevino, with whom he maintained contact, and enjoyed catching up with throughout the years.

Jim served his country in the US Marine Corps, and served in Vietnam. He left the Marine Corps in 1977 as a Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he worked as the Chief of Prosthetics at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center for many years, and retired after 39 years of service for the Federal Government. Jim also enjoyed playing golf and watching South Carolina football and golf. He was a loving husband, step-father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Beth Wilcoxson; step-daughters, Morgan and Kristen Dent; grandsons, Jason and William Dent; sister, BoPeep Wilcoxson Sloan (Pat) and her children, Michelle, Monica and John; sister, Sheila Sudderth and her children, Summer, Skyler and Stormie. Jim was predeceased by his parents.

A funeral service with US Marine Corps honors will be held for Jim Wilcoxson at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29223.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital,  501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
