Obituary of Marvin Kenneth Dowden
Marvin Kenneth Dowden – Irmo – A Celebration of Life service for Marvin Kenneth Dowden, 71, of Irmo, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. Pastor Rob Townshend will officiate. Burial with US Air Force honors will follow the service in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
Marvin Dowden passed away March 8, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Indianapolis, he was a son of the late Harold Dowden and Dorothy Yvonne Albertson Dowden. Marvin enjoyed playing golf, and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, and earned his bachelor’s degree in business at Butler University in Indianapolis. He retired from Lincare after 30 years of service, working both in Florida and South Carolina. After retirement, he continued working for Medbridge Home Health in Lexington. Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who had an amazing sense of humor, and brought laughter to all who knew him.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cathy Monninger Dowden; daughter, Michelle Kaye Dowden of Oceanside, NY, son, Eric Kenneth Dowden (Lisa), of Irmo; grandchildren, Kara Hoffman, Austin Dowden Alarie, Gabriel Dowden, Evan Cohen, Emma Cohen, Olivia Dowden; sisters, Nancy Day (Ron) of Indianapolis, Pam Sanford (Bill), of Brownsburg, IN; brother, Kevin Dowden of Indianapolis.
