Obituary of Elizabeth Thompson Peek

Elizabeth Thompson Peek – LEXINGTON – Memorial services for Elizabeth T. “E.T.” Peek, 79, of Lexington, formerly of Cayce, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Funeral Home, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Pastor Lee Millspaugh will officiate. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service in the Mausoleum Chapel. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.

Elizabeth Peek passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Jack Frank Thompson and Frances Susan Brown Thompson. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother “GiGi”, who loved to garden, enjoy nature and bird watch. Elizabeth retired after a 20+ year career at Oxford Industries of Columbia. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, and enjoyed watching televised services on Sunday. She was known for her cornbread dressing and ham which were staples at family get-togethers.

Elizabeth is survived by her children; daughters, Susan Barfield (Mike) of Lexington, Lynne Peek-Hawkins (Craig) of Lexington, son, Curtis Peek (Debbie) of Central, SC; grandsons, Kenneth, Christopher, Morgan (Caroline), Taylor (Nicole); great-granddaughter, Chyanne; sister, Frances Willis; brother, Jack Thompson. Elizabeth is also survived by a former daughter-in-law, Michelle Peek, and a large and loving extended family. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her son, Clyde Peek, and brother, Milton Thompson; sister, Inez Ranucci.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Amedisys Hospice and Amedysis Home Health for their tender loving care of mother, especially Amy and Twana.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Elizabeth’s name. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her family, and all who knew her.
