Obituary of Larry M. Williams

Larry M. Williams, 80, of Irmo, SC,  joined his Lord on the evening of July 5th 2018. Born in Geneva, Alabama on September 11, 1937, he was preceded in death by his mother, Tressie Russ, and his brother, Jack Williams.

Larry had compassion for those less fortunate, especially children and a strong love for his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Barbara (Rambo) Williams, son David Williams (Pam) of Pelzer, SC, son Robert Williams (MichaelAnn) stationed with the Navy in Singapore, and Jeffery Williams (Denise) of Irmo, SC.

Larry’s grandchildren were the light of his life. They include Matt Williams (Donna) of Tallahassee, FL, Tommy Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Jake Williams of Columbia, SC, Carson and Kate Williams of Irmo, SC, Ian Phillips of Seattle, WA and Shawn Ashley Philllips of Clemson, SC and great grandchildren Max and Luke Williams of Tallahassee, FL.

In addition, various cousins and family around northwest Florida and sister-in- law Mary Rau and husband, Ted Rau,  were close to his heart.

He enjoyed the love and fellowship of Thomas Steadman and the many friends from over 40 years of living in Irmo.

Larry retired from the US Navy and was a longtime member of Ashland United Methodist Church in Columbia.

A memorial service will be held at Ashland United Methodist Church 2600 Ashland Rd Columbia SC 29210 on Saturday July 14th at 11am.
